Ash dieback infected trees near Bickleigh to be felled

Almost 200 Ash dieback infected trees in Mid Devon will be felled later this month (March).

Devon County Council has identified 190 infected trees in the Bickleigh area that need to be removed for safety reasons.

Fugitive drug trafficker captured in Spain

A fugitive drug trafficker who headed a crime group that supplied huge amounts of heroin to the South West of England has been arrested in Tenerife.

Stephen Blundell, aged 36, of Leathers Lane, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin but fled to Spain before he could be sentenced in April 2013. He was later jailed for nine years eight months in his absence.

Two arrested in 'courier fraud' probe

Zephyr, the south west’s regional organised crime unit, has made arrests in Scotland as part of its ongoing probe into courier fraud.

Detectives from Zephyr were joined by officers from Police Scotland to execute search warrants on properties in the Castlemilk and Crosshill areas of the city of Glasgow.

Police appeal following RTC on M5 Motorway

Emergency services attended an injury road traffic collision on the M5 Motorway at just after 12.45pm on Friday 27 December.

A Peugeot 206 was travelling southbound when it left the carriageway and overturned into a ditch shortly after junction 27. An articulated lorry was also inovlved.

Police closed the motorway in both directions for a time to allow the air ambulance to land...

Child airlifted after M5 Crash

A child has been airlifted to Frenchay hospital in Bristol following an accident on the M5 near Tiverton.

The child was injured when the car he was travelling in left the slip road at junction 27 and overturned into a ditch.

Although hurt the child’s injuries were not life-threatening and no-one else in the vehicle was badly injured.
