A greyhound and lurcher rescue centre in Devon is celebrating after receiving a share in a total food donation worth over £8,000.00 from pet food manufacturer, Burgess Pet Care.

During its Greyhound & Lurcher Two-week Takeover campaign, Burgess asked its customers and followers to nominate independent greyhound and lurcher rescue centres they would like to receive a share of the substantial food donation.

Forever Hounds Trust was one of six rescues across the UK to receive the highest number of nominations.

Jazmin Derbyshire, Fundraising Manager at Forever Hounds Trust, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Burgess Pet Care and to everyone who voted for Forever Hounds Trust. The rescue greyhounds and lurchers in our care require large quantities of food and this donation will mean we have lots of happy full tummies! We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who continues to support us.”

Charlotte Varley, Communications Manager at Burgess Pet Care, said: “It has been fantastic to receive such an incredible response to this year’s Greyhound and Lurcher campaign and we are so grateful to everyone who took the time to nominate the rescue centres close to their hearts.

“For many years, Burgess has donated 20 pence from every purchased pack of Supadog Greyhound & Lurcher, which goes straight back into food donations for rescue centres and we are delighted to continue this initiative throughout this year and beyond.”

Now in its fourth year, Burgess’ Greyhound & Lurcher campaign reached thousands of people and included a two-week takeover of its social media channels to share information about greyhounds and lurchers and what makes them wonderful pets. The campaign also shone a light on some of the fantastic work being carried out by UK greyhound and lurcher rescue centres, including some of the animals in need of homes.
