Warning to take extra care in strong winds

Devon County Council is advising people to take extra care when travelling during the current storm conditions.

Following further torrential downpours today, surface water flooding, landslips and fallen trees have caused disruption on a number of roads across the county.

The repair and clear-up bill from Storm Dennis and Storm Ciara is expected to cost at least £200,000, according to early estimates from Devon County Council.

Easter weather warning issued for Devon

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for the Easter weekend.

High winds are expected to affect Devon on Saturday with gusts of 40-50mph in some inland areas, possibly topping 60mph across exposed coasts and hills.

The strong winds will be accompanied by heavy rain at times.

Flatulent cows cause methane blast

An explosion in a cow shed in the German town of Rasdorf yesterday afternoon (Monday 27 Jan) was caused by a build-up of flatulent gas, German police have said.

The blast caused damage to the shed’s roof and left one of the cows with injuries.
