With temperatures tumbling this week, Devon is prepared and ready to cope with the challenges of winter on the county’s roads.

Road surface temperatures are forecast to drop below -2C in some parts of Devon tonight and gritters will be out on all of the county’s primary salting routes from 6pm this evening.

Reminder to "be bright, be seen" on Devon's roads

British Summer Time ends on Sunday 31 October and as well as remembering to put the clocks back, Devon County Council is reminding road users to “be bright, be seen”.

The South West of England reports the highest level of incidents involving horses and vehicles in the UK, with 203 incidents reported to The British Horse Society (BHS) during 2019-2020. Essential safety repairs will get underway on the A3079 near Okehampton next week

Around 11 miles (18km) of the road from Fowley Cross to Cookworthy Farm, via Halwill Junction, will be resurfaced, starting from Monday 6 April.
