Young footballer in A30 collision dies from injuries

Police have named the driver who was died from the serious head injuries suffered in a collision on the A30 near Tedburn St Mary as James William Hedges, aged 23.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that the man has been formally identified by his family.  He was from the Southway area of Plymouth. He died at approximately 11am on Monday 18th March at Derriford Hospital.

The collision took place at around 5.30pm on Sunday 17th March 2013, when Mr. Hedges lost control of the car which left the road and crashed down a steep embankment.

A keen footballer who played for Saltash United and Elburton Villa, tributes to James Hedges have been pouring in from friends via Facebook and Twitter

A specially trained police family liaison officer has been appointed to the family at this difficult time.
