People affected by lymphatic cancer in the Plymouth area are encouraged to attend a free wellbeing event next month to learn more about living with and beyond lymphoma, the UK’s fifth most common cancer.

Aimed at patients and carers, the event, hosted by the Lymphoma Association, will feature talks from medical experts on topics including new and emerging treatments, ‘watch and wait’, managing the emotional impact of a diagnosis and eating well and staying active.

The event, which is free of charge, will take place on Saturday 3 September at the Plymouth Post Graduate Medical Centre at Derriford Hospital.

Helen Mee, Lymphoma Association’s education and training manager, said: ‘The first time many people hear of lymphoma is when they or someone close to them is diagnosed.

‘We know that people affected by lymphoma, including patients, carers and family members,  need support in different ways; having access to information about diagnosis,  treatment and living with lymphatic cancer can help immensely.

‘The event has been designed to offer practical support and it will also provide an opportunity for people affected by lymphoma to share concerns and experiences with others who have, or who are going through, a similar experience in a friendly and supportive setting.

‘It promises to be an informative and interactive day.’

Lymphoma is the UK’s fifth most common cancer and the most common cancer in teenagers and young adults. In the UK, someone is diagnosed every 28 minutes. Around 125,000 people are currently living with lymphoma.

The event will run from 9.45am until 3pm. Places can be booked by calling 01296 619400 or visiting https://www.lymphomas.org.uk/shop/conferences-and-events/lymphoma-health...
