Prime Minister commissions Plymouth University researcher to establish rural dementia task force

The challenges facing rural communities in tackling dementia are to be investigated by a specialist task force commissioned by Prime Minister David Cameron.

Work begins on restoration of historic city centre landmark

A historic spade used to inaugurate the construction of Burrator Reservoir in the 19th century has been used to launch another landmark water project in the South West.

Drake’s Place Gardens and Reservoir, off North Hill in Plymouth city centre, are set to be transformed over the next six months, as the site is restored to its former glory.

Book of Condolence opened for Nelson Mandela

A book of condolence for Nelson Mandela has been opened in Plymouth’s Civic Centre.

Members of the public are invited to sign the book in the First Stop reception, which is open between 8.30am and 5pm.

The Council is also flying the South African, Union and St George flags at half-mast outside the Guildhall until Mr Mandela’s funeral.

Man sentenced to 12 months for fete fraud at Truro Crown Court

A 41-year-old man has today (6 December 2013), been given a 12 month prison sentence at Truro Crown Court for committing fraud against a popular Cornish fete.

Fire crews attend microwave fire in St Budeaux
