More flood warnings as severe weather returns

The Environment Agency is warning of further floods today issuing five flood warnings and 27 flood alerts across the South West as the severe wind and rain continue to affect the region.

The River Teign near Chudleigh and Kingsteignton, the River Yarty and the River Dart are all expected to see localised flooding with residents warned to take immediate flood protection action.

Police appeal following RTC on M5 Motorway

Emergency services attended an injury road traffic collision on the M5 Motorway at just after 12.45pm on Friday 27 December.

A Peugeot 206 was travelling southbound when it left the carriageway and overturned into a ditch shortly after junction 27. An articulated lorry was also inovlved.

Man released on bail after deer injured in "crossbow attack"

Devon & Cornwall Police have arrested a 25-year-old man after reports that a wild deer was shot in the head with a crossbow.

The man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and has been bailed until 7 February 2014.

Work on next section of city centre walking and cycling route to begin in January

Work to provide an improved walking and cycling route between Plymouth Rail Station and Exeter Street will begin on Monday 6 January.

Part of the Council’s Plymotion scheme, the improvements will deliver the next section of the new west-to-east route from Stonehouse to Plympton and Plymstock via Laira Rail Bridge, which will be opened to pedestrians and cyclists in 2015.
