Work by prominent Devon artists selected for Winter exhibition
The work of three prominent Devon painters features in the Creative Coverage Winter Exhibition, which runs online until December 31 where there is a mix of paintings, ceramics, glass and sculpture from artists across the UK and internationally.
Paintings by Michael Hill, Lynda Kettle RBSA and James Lester SWAc all feature in this marvellous extravagnza of creative talent. Their work is attached).
"There is a variety of work ranging from big and bold abstracts by Rowena Comrie in Scotland through to slightly more traditional landscapes from Michael Hill in Devon, although even these have abstract elements," says Tim Saunders, co-founder of Creative Coverage.

About Michael Hill
Michael Hill is president of Plymouth Watercolour Society and a member of Plymouth Society of Artists. Born in Plymouth he studied graphic art and design and after leaving college he worked as a freelance illustrator before taking up painting. He teaches art on a part-time basis as well as holding occasional workshops. Michael exhibits in galleries mainly in the southwest. "In painting it is important for me to convey a strong sense of place, but not to give too much away, letting form and colour melt together, hopefully to create a slight air of mystery," says Michael.
About Lynda Kettle
Chair of Sidmouth Arts Society and former Vice President of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) Lynda Kettle was also Membership Secretary for the Birmingham Watercolour Society (BWS) before she relocated to Devon. She is still a member of the Birmingham and Midland Pastel Society, the Birmingham Watercolour Society and the RBSA. A landscape artist, Lynda is a graduate of Birmingham College of Art. Following a successful artistic career in theatre and BBC Television Lynda paints in her studio at The Loft Studio, Libra Court, Fore Street, Sidmouth and exhibits her paintings, runs art courses and gives demonstrations to art societies. "My life in TV has influenced my painting style," says Lynda, who has a studio at Libra Court, Fore Steet, Sidmouth, Devon EX10 8AJ - a few yards from the seafront. "I aim to show the effect of light with elements of drama using bold colour."
About James Lester
Born in Dover, Kent, and after initial study James established a successful career in London as art director in advertising and publishing, when he worked on many national advertising campaigns and magazines. Throughout this time his paintings were exhibited in many of the London exhibitions, including the RA and the RBA. A lifelong interest in the natural world of plants and flowers led to membership of the Society of Botanical Artists. James is co-author of the book Painting the Secret World of Natureand flowering plants are a recurring theme in his work. In Devon he has been proprietor of an art gallery, run numerous painting courses and workshops, and exhibited at the Royal West of England Academy. He is an academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts.
