East Devon’s MP Simon Jupp has continued his campaign for better broadband by collecting information on internet speeds so he can demand action from internet providers.

Using a short survey found on his website, East Devon residents and businesses are recommended to test their broadband service through consumer choice website ‘Which?’ and submit their download speeds to Simon Jupp MP.

The Great South West, a powerhouse partnership seeking to boost investment across the region, is chaired by Simon Jupp MP in Parliament and has identified the lack of universal fast broadband as a barrier to further economic success in areas such as East Devon.

Acknowledging the challenge poor connectivity poses to growth and productivity, Simon Jupp MP will use the survey data to identify areas where additional investment is needed. He will then present this information to internet providers and urge them to step up and improve broadband infrastructure in East Devon.

This action follows a meeting Simon Jupp MP held with the CEO of Wildanet last month in which he welcomed the South West-based internet provider’s plans to expand their rollout of full fibre and gigabit infrastructure.

Simon Jupp, MP for East Devon, said; “We all hate dodgy Wi-Fi and broadband speeds in some of our communities aren’t what they should be. Wherever you are in East Devon, I want to ensure that you have access to a faster and more reliable internet connection. By filling out my survey and joining the campaign, you can help me demand action from internet providers to get broadband in our area up to speed.”
