Police appeal for witnesses after car collides with house in Plymouth

Police have launched an investigation after a car collided with a house in St Levan Road, Plymouth, at around 11.40 pm last night (Wednesday 7th October 2015) causing substantial damage.

Emergency services attended an apartment building in Warleigh Court following reports of a Ford Focus collided with 2 parked vehicles and the building.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service called out a specialist engineer to inspect the damage who declared the building unsafe. A cordon has been set up around the building.

The occupants of six flats were evacuated for their own safety as was a disabled resident in a neighbouring building.

Plymouth City Council provided emergency accommodation for those who were unable to make their own arrangements.

A 27-year-old man from Saltash, Cornwall was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence and since been bailed until the 19th November, pending further enquiries. St Levan Road reopened at around midday and the building has sionce been declared safe.
