Residents from a Plymstock care home celebrated St Patrick’s Day in style with a party on Friday 17 March.

Staff at Anchor’s Selkirk House donned green costumes to get into the spirit of the day.  The care home was decked out in shamrocks and green decorations made by the residents during arts and crafts activities to mark the feast day of Ireland’s patron saint, St Patrick.

Irene Manning, 90, who has lived at Selkirk care home for nearly 12 months said: “It’s always been a lot of fun for me. Personally, I think all the fun and merriment is the best way to honour a Saint!

“There’s always lots of interesting and new activities to try here at Selkirk House, St Patrick’s Day is an old favourite, but I’ve loved trying new things here as well!”

Lorraine Holden, Manager of Anchor’s Selkirk House said: “It was great fun celebrating St Patrick’s Day here at Anchor’s Selkirk House. We made decorations, organised fun activities so we could celebrate in style!

“We enjoy organising fun events for residents on special days like St Patrick’s Day. They’re a great way for to keep our residents mentally and physically active and they’re also a lot of fun to organise as well!”
