Plymouth nursery celebrates 'good' Ofsted rating

Mama Bear's Day Nursery in Pennycross, Plymouth, is celebrating Ofsted inspection success.

The nursery in Springhill Green that caters for youngsters aged from three months to five years was awarded a ‘good’ rating after an inspection of the service.

The report noted: “Partnerships with parents are strong, helping to provide children with continuity in their learning. Parents actively participate in special events and fun days.

“Managers work well with other professionals to identify all children's needs and help them make good progress. Staff support individual children well and use specific strategies.

“Staff maintain children's good levels of self-esteem… and develop close relationships with new parents and children, helping them to feel confident and safe.

“Staff monitor children's progress well and plan activities relating to their specific interests and needs.”

The report noted regular supervision supported staff's professional development and helped maintain good teaching practices.

It also praised the use of an electronic code system to strengthen security.

Mama Bear’s Pennycross nursery manager Alex Davis, said: “We are delighted to have received such a positive report.

“It underlines the nursery’s approach to ‘getting it right’ in the early stages of children’s learning journey.

"Our goal is to ensure we create the best possible environment in which children can flourish and naturally love learning for the rest of their life.”

Mama Bear’s Day Nursery is a family-run business founded in 2002 with settings across Bristol, Somerset and Devon.
