On Saturday 7 February, a group of runners, walkers and their four-legged friends came together at Plymbridge Woods to have a night time adventure.

A buzz of excitement filled the woodland on the crisp February evening, as glow-in-the-dark face paint got everyone geared up ready to go.

Participants of all ages ran in the darkness with their torches, following either an explorer (1-2km) or adventure (6-9km) route lit up by glow sticks.

After the race, the group were rewarded by a roaring fire, hog roast, toasted marshmallows, music and medals.

Charlie McGuin, Sport Development Officer said: "It was the first time we have run an event like this at Plymbridge and everyone really enjoyed themselves.

"Being able to experience the woods in a different way proved to be popular with the participants and we hope that they will return to enjoy it in the daytime and take part in other activities we run throughout the year."

The National Trust is hosting the night run series at 12 National Trust places around the country since with three more due to be held in March.
