Places on Summer Mix filling up fast

Spaces on hundreds of free, fun and exciting courses for young people as part of this year’s Summer Mix programme are filling up fast with 137 of the 259 courses on offer fully booked.

Plymouth’s fantastic Summer Mix 2015 is aimed at young people aged 11 to 19 – or 11 to 25 for those with a disability and run from the 3 to the 29 August.

Courses and activities are booked on a first come first served basis, so young people wanting to put their name down are being urged to log on and enrol now before it’s too late.

Just some of the activities still up for grabs include A Day with the Fire & Rescue Service, communication and counselling skills, event management, a first aid course and much, much more!

Cabinet member for Children, Young people and Public Health, Councillor Sue McDonald, said: “I’d really would urge any young person who is thinking about signing up to do so as quickly as possible, because places are filling up fast! This is a fantastic opportunity for Plymouth’s young people to try something new, refine their skills or simply fill their time during the six weeks holiday with something fun for free!”

Young people need to register on the Summer Mix website and apply for courses online. Courses won’t be confirmed until a signed consent form is received, which can be downloaded from the website. Once young people have enrolled they will find out very quickly if they have been successful in their course choices when they are sent emails confirming the details.

Summer Mix 2015 has been organised and funded by Plymouth City Council’s Youth Services. It has been supported by local businesses and other organisations, who are providing courses and activities.

From 27 July young people can apply for spaces on additional courses so just come back and visit the website again.
