New independent café bistro in Ivybridge brings fresh energy to town’s dining scene
A new independent café bistro has opened in the centre of Ivybridge, bringing fresh energy to the town’s dining scene.
Stu’s at Ivybridge, located at 15 Fore Street, is serving world-inspired cuisine featuring bold flavours and locally sourced produce, alongside traditional dishes infused with Devon heart.
The venue provides breakfast and lunch from Wednesday to Sunday, and evening meals from Thursday to Saturday. It caters for a wide range of tastes, with meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes given equal prominence.
Business partners and Devon residents Simon Welsh and Stu Welsh are behind the new venture.
“Our hand-picked kitchen and front-of-house team will be offering exceptional, nourishing food alive with depth and flavour, all with a generous side of welcoming community spirit,” said owner Simon Welsh. “Diners can order anything from a morning coffee and hot breakfast to a hearty supper, and we’ll be serving delicious roasts for Sunday lunch, too.”
The Fore Street building has been completely renovated to create a relaxed, casual dining space.
Executive chef and general manager Stu Welsh will design each menu, with food expertly made from scratch. Seasonal dishes will be regularly introduced.
Stu Welsh has spent three decades in the hospitality sector managing large scale catering operations across the South West of England. His grandmother inspired his passion for cooking with fresh ingredients from an early age.
“At the core of our new business is food that is cooked with passion and care, rooted in fresh, local produce, and served in a warm and welcoming environment that makes people feel at home,” said Stu Welsh.
The venue also plans to host monthly community events such as vintage movie and music nights.
“Stu’s at Ivybridge is about bringing people together over good food and conversation,” Simon Welsh continued. “We hope to set a new standard for independent dining in the region, focusing on quality, consistency and genuine hospitality.”
Walk-ins are welcome throughout the day. Booking is advised for evening service and Sunday lunch via the website: www.stusrestaurants.co.uk.
