Margaret Green Animal Rescue Appoints Joanna Tiffin as New Chief Executive

Margaret Green Animal Rescue (MGAR) is delighted to announce the appointment of Joanna Tiffin as its new Chief Executive.

Joanna brings more than 15 years of senior leadership experience across values-driven and mission-led organisations, including the NHS, adult social care and the not-for-profit sector. Her career has been built on connecting government, business and charitable organisations to deliver meaningful social impact, alongside extensive experience in organisational strategy, partnership development and leading high-performing teams.

A lifelong animal lover with strong local roots, Joanna moved to Dorset at the age of two and grew up in Poole. She has fond family connections to Devon, where childhood holidays included a favourite wild camping spot just three miles from MGAR's Wingletang Rescue and Rehoming Centre, near Tavistock

Joanna lives with her wife and two children and shares her home with a number of four-legged family members, including dogs and ponies. Over the years, her passion for animal welfare has extended to caring for a remarkably diverse range of species, including sugar gliders, snakes, lizards, spiders and scorpions.

She was drawn to MGAR by its unique commitment to helping many different species of animals, its proud 60-year history and the dedication of its staff and volunteers.

Commenting on her appointment, Joanna said:

"It is a genuine privilege to lead Margaret Green Animal Rescue. As someone who grew up in Dorset, returning to lead the county's oldest animal charity feels like coming home. What drew me here is MGAR's multi-species mission and the extraordinary dedication of its staff and volunteers — many with decades of service. I'm most looking forward to building on our founder's legacy and growing our impact for the animals and communities who rely on us."

Founded by Margaret Green more than 60 years ago, MGAR has grown into one of the South West's leading animal welfare charities, providing care, rehabilitation and rehoming services for a wide range of species. Under Joanna's leadership, the charity looks forward to building on this strong foundation while continuing to support animals and the communities who care for them.
