Friendship at the Heart of September with The Oddfellows

The Plymouth & Truro District Oddfellows is inviting local people to join them this September 2025 as part of Friendship Month, a national initiative celebrating the importance of community, connection and companionship.

From fascinating guest talks and heritage tours, to coffee mornings, games, yoga and social lunches, the Oddfellows has lined up a varied programme of events across Redruth, Truro and Plymouth. Each event is open to all, with a warm welcome guaranteed.

Highlights include:

  • Redruth Friendship Group (2 Sept, 2pm, Oddfellows Hall, Green Lane, TR15 1LL): A talk by a member of the International Police Association sharing captivating stories from a career spanning the USA and beyond, plus a collection of police badges on display. Refreshments and raffle included. Contact Pete.
  • Coffee & Chat in Plymouth (3 Sept, 10.30am, Mollies Coffee Shop, Plympton): A relaxed morning for friendly conversation. Contact Brenda.
  • Truro Friendship Group (3 Sept, 2pm, Kea Community Centre, Playing Place): The group launches its new venue with a lively beetle drive, refreshments and raffle. Contact Pete.
  • Plymouth Lodge and Friendship Group (4 Sept, from 10.30am, St Budeaux Community Centre): Morning meeting, followed by lunch and an afternoon social. Contact Pete or Brenda.
  • Half-Yearly Meeting, Redruth (6 Sept, 12 noon, Oddfellows Hall): Members gather for district business reports and a fish and chip lunch (booking required). Contact Pete.
  • Chair Yoga, Redruth (15 Sept, 10.30am, Oddfellows Hall): A gentle session with qualified instructor Chrissie. Members free, guests make a small charity donation. Contact Pete.
  • Naval Heritage Centre Tour, Plymouth (17 Sept, 10.30am, Devonport Naval Heritage Centre): Free guided visit to one of the region’s historic treasures (booking essential). Contact Brenda.
  • Cornubian Oddfellows Lodge, Redruth (19 Sept, 7.30pm, Oddfellows Hall): A ceremonial meeting, followed by cheese, wine and refreshments. Contact Pete.
  • East Cornwall & Plymouth Sunday Lunch Group: Members gather every six weeks to enjoy lunch at different local venues. Contact Pete or Brenda.
