Doc McStuffins is embarking on a national experiential retail tour “Doc ‘s Check-Up Clinic”, inspired by the Disney Junior hit animated series of the same name.

Free to the public, the touring check-up clinic will embark on a cross country road trip on 8th February visiting major cities. The hit series for children models good health, nurturing and compassion through stories of a young girl, Doc, a would-be doctor, who cares for and can communicate with her toys that include Lambie and Stuffy.

Appealing to the nurturer in children, the Doc McStuffins experiential tour will visit a selection of Tesco, Smyths and Toys ‘R’ Us stores nation-wide, offering young children a unique experience combining the imaginative toys come-to-life and aspirational doctor play patterns.

Doc fans will be able to dress up in a doctor’s tunic, with their very own stethoscope and clipboard in preparation for their training. They will then be invited to step in to Doc’s clinic where they will meet their patient, Big Ted, hear about his symptoms and learn how to help make Ted feel better by diagnosing the problem and giving a recommended treatment. As part of their training, children can practice putting a plaster on Ted as well as checking his heart rate before being presented with a certificate and additional giveaways to take home including a special offer on specific Doc merchandise that can be redeemed in-store.

Doc McStuffins has gone from strength to strength since it launched in 2012.
Already Emmy-Award nominated, the series earned a UK BAFTA nomination in November 2013, and was recently watched by an impressive 4.5 million viewers between July and September 2013 on Disney Junior UK, of which over a quarter were children aged 4-9. Its success has also been mirrored at retail with a phenomenally successful cross category consumer products range - in particular the Doc McStuffins’ doctor’s bag, dress up costume and interactive doll - which has seen Doc top many children’s Christmas lists across the country. Season two premiered on 27 January on Disney Junior, the UK’s number 1 pay TV preschool channel.

The experience will also show Doc episodes on a TV screen as well as offer the opportunity to participate in a “Time for Your Check-Up” sing along.

“We understand that having to visit the doctor can be a scary experience for young children,” comments Anna Hill, Disney UK. “Doc’s Check-Up Clinic will help lessen the fear associated with the doctor’s office by offering children a fun, familiar and engaging way to experience playing the role on a local level.”

Created and executive-produced by Humanitas Prize and Emmy Award-winning Chris Nee (writer on Little Bill and producer of Deadliest Catch: Crab Fishing in Alaska), the idea for Doc McStuffins came after her son’s asthma made visits to the doctor a regular routine. Chris was determined to use her own expertise in children's television to help make going to the doctor a less scary experience for young children like her son and also recognised the need for a strong, African-American female character to act as a role model for pre-schoolers.

The Doc McStuffins product range which includes books, clothing, party goods & role play toys, dolls and accessories, made history when it became the fastest selling new property at Disney Store for 2012 and saw the same success in 2013. The Doc McStuffins Doctor's Bag made the Dream Toys top 10 toys for Christmas 2013 list, selected by a panel of independent buyers that represents 80% of toy retailers from stores including Hamley’s, The Entertainer, Argos, Smyths Toys, Toys R US, Toymaster and ToyTown.
