Join the Good Vibes Rollercoaster in a celebration of freedom, play and endless summers, as the new rock ‘n’ roll collective launches today with its infectious debut single, “We Stand Together!”, available on Spotify and  Apple Music.

The collective draws together a stellar roll call of musicians that includes Darrin Mooney (Primal Scream, Gary Moore), Jonathan Noyce (Jethro Tull, Gary Moore), Paddy Milner (Tom Jones, Jawbone), backing singers Jodi Elms, Claire Addiscot (Choir of Peace & Love), Nick Holland (Italian Toscanini Orchestra, Balanescu Quartet), Paul Downs and Harry Basset, headed by story teller / songwriter / producer Matt Walton.

Engineered by Gareth Matthews (Frank Turner, Sandi Thom, Alexander Oneal) and mastered at Abbey Road Studios, the Good Vibes Rollercoaster conjures an effortless, nostalgic fusion of the best of late 1960s / 1970s Woodstock and 1990s Indie rock sounds.

“More than a rock ‘n’ roll collective, we’re here for the dreamers, the dancers and the sunset chasers -  the ones who believe that music isn’t just something you hear, it’s something you live. So, buckle up and enjoy the ride.” – Matt Walton

About Good Vibes Rollercoaster

Fuelled by Walton’s belief in joy as a driving force for positive action and the transformative power of music, the Devon and New-Forest based Good Vibes Rollercoaster emerged spontaneously from a series of sessions held at EchoTown and Are Friends Electric studios through 2025.

Matt’s mission is to drive positive outlooks and experiences through music and storytelling. Thus, Good Vibes Rollercoaster sets out to prove that the combination of positive reinforcement and the wonder drug of uplifting rock ‘n’ roll can quantifiably change people's lives for the better.

About Matt Walton

Matt Walton’s story is one of resilience, creativity and the pursuit of joy.

Raised in Torquay then Paignton in Devon, Matt grew up in a modest, hard-working family. His dad was a sports teacher who worked six days a week, his mum a devoted homemaker. "There wasn’t much spare money for the so called luxuries in life, but what the family did have was love, encouragement, and a sense of wonder for the simple things in life. “We didn’t have much money,” Matt says, “but we had an abundance of support to try and be our best self, and that was very grounding and hugely important.”

Matt discovered music as a teenager. Picking up the drums at 15, he joined a local band competition after only six weeks of playing, and they won. From that moment, Matt knew creativity was his language. He moved from drums to guitar and with heavy rock band Madhatter, they quickly became the heartbeat of his local scene - the Devon answer to Mötley Crüe - all energy, volume, and chaos. Madhatter toured the UK playing iconic venues such as the Marquee in London, Nottingham Rock City, Cornwall Colosseum and featuring in Kerrang and on the Tommy Vance Friday Rock show. Just as Madhatter was generating interest from major labels, Nirvana landed in the early ‘90s creating a bombshell shift in rock and label interest tailed off.

"But looking back, I have no regrets and what a time we had.  We lived as a band, thanks to Paul Downs.  Those wild years were thrilling but unsustainable. It was mad, crazy and more” he laughs, “but I needed to make some changes.”

This prompted a life-changing moment of reflection. From beneath the chaos, there was something deeper calling - a journey to understand life, his purpose, and what it really meant to be deeply happy. Meeting his wife, was the turning point for Matt. “She’s the biggest influence in my life,” he says. “She taught me that life isn’t about you. It’s about empathy, listening, and making others feel seen.” Their relationship became a foundation for everything that followed: a partnership rooted in balance, love and joy and an opportunity to evolve.

Going back to college and learning web design, Matt took a job for £30 a week just to get his foot in the door and learn his new trade. That determination led him into a career in digital innovation, rising through roles at major companies, and eventually mentoring and leading large teams. “I’ve never been given anything for free,” he says. “But that’s why I appreciate every single day, every single interaction and every single situation. You have to be bold, brave, and worthy. And when you show up like that, people feel it.”

That same energy carried him into mentoring, coaching, and even managing professional MMA fighters. He built his own Thai boxing / MMA gym, worked with charities like Kidscape to support young people, and helped others build confidence and self-belief. For Matt, the thread between all his worlds, business, sport, and music, is being comfortable with one's self and proactively looking to get the best out of each and every person and situation. “Everything starts with believing in yourself,” he says. “If you can do that, you can do anything you want to put your mind to.”

Forward to 2025, and Good Vibes Rollercoaster was born out of that same belief. Throughout his working life, fatherhood and his other projects, Matt’s original passion for music has never waned and he has continued to play with Madhatter bandmate Paul Downs and collaborate with like minded people.

The songs today are a positively focused view of life in musical form, celebrating the power of gratitude, presence, and positivity. “If someone listens and smiles - that’s it, job done,” he says. “If it makes them think, ‘I can do this, life really is for the taking’, then even better.”

The Good Vibes Rollercoaster music, like Matt's outlook, is authentic, raw, and real, rooted in life’s highs and lows, and always steering toward light. Whether Matt is sitting in a boardroom, playing sports with his kids, mountain biking through the forest, or performing on stage, his message remains constant:

Life is for living. One chance. One life. Make it count.
