Oddfellows Sunday Lunch Brings Friendship to the Table

Members of the Oddfellows Friendly Society from Plymouth’s ‘Pride of the West’ branch continue to celebrate friendship and community through their popular Sunday lunch gatherings, held every few weeks at venues across the region.

The events, which bring members together in a relaxed and welcoming setting, have become a cherished tradition for the group. Far more than simply a meal, the lunches offer an opportunity for people to reconnect with old friends, meet new members and enjoy good conversation.

The latest gathering was held at the Notter Bridge Inn in Saltash, where members enjoyed a traditional Sunday lunch in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The event was widely praised by those attending, with many commenting on the excellent food and lively company.

The lunches are organised by Plymouth member Kathrine Hicks-Jane, who has been coordinating the events for more than 20 years. During that time, the group has visited a wide range of venues throughout Plymouth, Devon and South East Cornwall and are always keen to discover new places serving a great Sunday roast.

Speaking about the gatherings, Kathrine said the events along with coffee mornings and friendly activities play an important role in keeping members connected.

“We always aim to discover new venues,” she said. “These lunches give our members the chance to come together, enjoy a hearty meal and share stories. Whether catching up with old friends or making new ones, it’s a reminder that when you’re part of the Oddfellows, friendship and support are never far away.”

With another lunch already planned as part of the society’s ongoing programme of social events, members are once again looking forward to the next opportunity to gather around the table and continue a tradition built on companionship and community spirit.
