The Burton at Bideford has been a registered charity since 2016 and is currently looking to recruit new Trustees to the Board. As well as a registered charity, the Burton also became an Arts Council Funded National Portfolio Organisation in 2018 and pride ourselves on offering an exciting programme of exhibitions as well as a wide range of other activities including developing educational work, workshops, supporting local artists, volunteers and making the Burton a wonderful place to visit for the whole community as well as visitors to the area.

We have a committed group of Trustees and we are currently recruiting for new Trustees. We are particularly hoping to receive applications from potential Trustees with a proven track record in heritage, arts or business or a relevant profession particularly at a strategic level.

The role of Trustee is very rewarding, providing an opportunity to give something back to your local community and the arts in the South West.  We are happy to receive applications from experienced Trustees or those who are new to the role of Trustee.

Judith Gentry, Chair of the Trustee says:

‘Our current Board has a wide range of skills and experience and this has undoubtedly contributed to the success that The Burton has experienced and continues to enjoy. Many of the Board initially had little experience of the arts sector and while this experience is naturally very welcome it isn’t essential. As we seek to expand our Board what matters is that the cause is important to you, that you want to play a part in the Burtons continued development  and that you are able to give the time and energy which being a Trustee of this successful organisation demands!’
