Blackpool Sands, the iconic beach in South Devon, is delighted to welcome Monty Halls and Cheska Hull as its new ambassadors.

Chosen for their love of the beach and commitment to marine conservation, Monty and Cheska will inspire visitors to cherish and protect our seas, while encouraging visitors to enjoy everything Blackpool Sands offers.

Monty Halls, a well-known marine biologist and TV presenter based in Dartmouth, is thrilled to represent his local beach. An ex-Royal Marine Officer, he is best known for his three BBC2 series ‘Great Escapes’. He has written several books, and is a regular contributor to magazines and newspapers, many of them communicating his enthusiasm for the natural world.

As a conservationist with a passion for marine life, Monty has worked around the world, seeking out the greatest encounters with oceans near and far afield.

Blackpool Sands holds a special place in his heart, with its Blue Flag status and dedication to sustainability.

"I'm delighted to be appointed a new ambassador for Blackpool Sands," he said. “The beach stands out for its commitment to protecting the marine environment and I'm thrilled to be partnering with the team to inspire and educate visitors about the importance of marine conservation, and why we should all do our bit to look after our beaches and seas.”

Cheska, a social media influencer, PR manager, eco-warrior and former star of Made in Chelsea, is a regular visitor to Blackpool Sands, and uses the beach as a first port of call to showcase South Devon.

”I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining Blackpool Sands as an ambassador!" said Cheska. “I love the beach, and visit often with my family. I'm blown away by the beach's commitment to environmental conservation. A day at the beach is pure bliss, and whatever age you are, splashing about with a bucket and spade, eating great food and enjoying the views creates the greatest of lasting memories”.

“I’m excited to use my platform to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet and to inspire my followers to make a positive impact on their own environment."

Charlie Deuchar, operations manager at Blackpool Sands, said: “Having Monty and Cheska on board as our ambassadors is a real coup for us, and an exciting time, as we redevelop the restaurant area for a summer opening to create a whole new beach experience”.

“Blackpool Sands is one of the UK’s most iconic, beautiful and respected beaches and both Monty and Cheska understand the value of our work here, keeping the beach and the environment as clean as possible, staying true to our sustainable ethos, while encouraging people to come and enjoy this stunning place.”

As well as being one of the UK’s most admired visitor destinations, Blackpool Sands is renowned for its delicious food offerings. A new restaurant is set to open this summer, which will operate alongside the takeaway and further enhance the beach experience for visitors.

Blackpool Sands Takeaway is open from 9 am until 5 pm every day, with extended hours during the holiday season. The new restaurant is set to open in early summer.
