76 year old man killed in A38 accident

A 76 year old man was killed on Friday when a car in which he was a passenger, was involved in a collision on the A38.

Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for witnesses following the accident at Westlake near Ivybridge.

The collision happened in poor weather at around 5.45 p.m. on Friday 22nd March 2013 when a blue Volvo S60 left the road on its nearside via a lay-by. It continued through a fence and hedgerow before coming to rest some distance into a waterlogged field.

The driver, a woman in her sixties, was conveyed to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth and released following treatment for minor injuries.

Police say that both the deceased man and the woman are from Wiltshire.

One lane of the A38 was closed alongside the Westlake lay-by for some time in order to protect the scene.
