Sexual Health survey 2016 – Have your say
Plymouth City Council is working to ensure that sexual and reproductive health services meet the needs of the local population. An online survey has been launched to get people’s opinions, and will be open for three weeks, so local people are urged to have their say.
Councillor Lynda Bowyer, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care for Plymouth City Council, said: “We are seeking the views of young people and adults on what they would like from local services, and we want to hear from as many people in Plymouth as possible, regardless of whether they have used sexual and reproductive health services or not.”
Dr Ruth Harrell, Director of Public Health for Plymouth City Council, said: “Good sexual and reproductive health is an essential part of people’s health and wellbeing and it is important that people have the information, confidence and means to make choices that are right for them. Your views are really important to us and they will be central to the future of sexual and reproductive health services in the city.”
The Council is considering a range of options including:
- A greater focus on prevention, both of sexually transmitted infections, and unwanted pregnancies
- Developing a single point of access for sexual health services
- Using new technologies such as online testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Delivering services in different settings to make them more accessible
- Developing a strong sexual health ‘brand’ for Plymouth
