The co-founders of one of East Devon’s newest eateries, Coldharbour Field Kitchen in Ottery St Mary were almost speechless when they scooped gold at the Devon Tourism Awards.

Andrea Broadhurst and Beth Ashfield attended the awards event held at Home Park, Plymouth Argyle Football Club, where the Field Kitchen was a finalist in the Casual Dining category.

“To say we were stunned when we were announced as winners of the gold award  is a bit of an understatement!” says Andrea.

“This is just the first year for the Field Kitchen which opened in June, so it’s a wonderful accolade and the whole team is extremely proud. We put the award down to our commitment to local sourcing, sustainable aims - and the support of the local community as well as visitors to the area."

The Field Kitchen closed for a break during January, recently reopening to great relief from customers who had been missing their ‘coffee and fuel’ stop. Until Easter it’s open daytime only for breakfast, lunch, hot drinks and cakes, after which Andrea and Beth will be reintroducing the Friday and Saturday dining evenings which proved so popular last year.

In the meantime they've introduced all-day Sunday Breakfast Specials, served between 10am and 3pm. Choices include sweet treats such as fluffy pancakes topped with chocolate sauce, banana and toasted pecans alongside more traditional breakfasts including Beth’s renowned bubble & squeak.

Coldharbour Field Kitchen is on a family-run farm at the top of Slade Road in Ottery, just a short walk from the Farm Shop which sells local produce, gifts, homewares and a huge range of South West artisan spirits.
