
Calling all Foodies- Plymouth Food Awards 2013
There’s only one day left to have your say on who makes the best eats in the city.
The awards presented by Food Plymouth, an organisation dedicated to promoting good sustainable local food, are designed to showcase excellent local produce and producers.
Voting on the awards closes tonight and will be presented at the National Marine Aquarium on the 20 september.
Catergories and Nominations are:
• Best Producer – for a farmer, grower or food producer, based in Devon or Cornwall, supplying produce into Plymouth: Langage Farm, Leigh Farm, Luke’s Farm, Pips PYO, Riverford Organic, Tamar Grow Local, Well Hung Meat Company
• Best Local Food Product - for the producer of a local food product, from Devon or Cornwall, which is sold in Plymouth; this category recognizes enterprise and innovation: Burts Crisps, Challons Coombe Yoghurt, Exe River Mussels, Freds Kitchen Chutneys, Janner Jam
• Best Restaurant or Café – for a Plymouth eaterie which best supports local suppliers and sells fresh, local and sustainable food on it’s menu: Bistro One, Dolphin Brasserie, Lemon Tree Bistro, Tanners Restaurant, Peace Cafe, Plymouth Artshouse, Rock Salt Café and Brasserie, The Treasury
• Best School – for a Plymouth school doing most to support the aims of the Plymouth Food Charter: Brook Green Centre for Learning, Beachwood Primary, Coombe Dean Primary, Lipson Vale Primary, Marlborough Primary
• Community Food Award – for an exceptional Plymouth community food project or organization; Allways Apples, Devon and Cornwall Food Association (DCFA), Devonport Lifehouse Project (Salvation Army), Diggin’ It, Grow Efford, Transition Plymouth Food Group,
• Most Sustainable Food Business – for a Plymouth based food business who is leading the way for sustainable procurement and practice – Please vote for any of the businesses or organisations listed in each category, stating your reason why they deserve to win the most Sustainable Food Business award.
