Kicking off 2026 - Barnstaple charities invited to apply for funding
Kicking off 2026 with a commitment to local communities, Allison Homes South West is inviting charities and community organisations in Barnstaple to apply for a share of £1,000 funding to support local projects.
The initiative is part of the housebuilder’s ongoing commitment to support communities near its developments. Local groups working in areas such as mental health, wellbeing, education, the environment, youth services and social inclusion are encouraged to apply.
Applications are open now, closing at noon on Friday 13 February. Once reviewed by the Allison Homes South West team, successful organisations will receive a one-off £500 donation to help them make a tangible difference in their local community.
David Hnyda, sales director for Allison Homes South West, said: "We want to support the people and organisations who go the extra mile to make a real difference locally. Whether you’re helping young people, protecting green spaces or offering support to those in need, we’d love to hear from you.
Charities and community groups should email swenquiries@allison-homes.com with up to 200 words outlining how the funding would be used and the impact it would have.
David added: "As a responsible housebuilder, we’re committed to going beyond bricks and mortar by supporting the neighbourhoods near our sites. Our Tarka Coombe development is bringing 105 much-needed new homes to Landkey, and we’re equally focused on helping local charities and groups thrive alongside it.”
Homes at Tarka Coombe will be EPC ‘A’-rated, offering electric vehicle charging points to selected homes, spacious interiors and surrounded by the idyllic North Devon countryside. Local amenities include a convenience store, pub, post office, community centre and primary school, all within walking distance in the village of Landkey.
For a wider choice of schools and transport links, homebuyers can travel ten minutes to Barnstaple, where they’ll find supermarkets and independent retailers, the historic Pannier Market, or can even enjoy a performance at The Queen’s Theatre. For those looking to explore further afield, Exeter with its thriving cultural scene is less than an hour away.
Commuters travelling by car will be just a few minutes from the A361, with a direct route to Barnstaple and the North Devon Link Road, connecting to the M5. Nearby Barnstaple train station offers frequent services to Exeter, with connections to Bristol and London.
The new development will include six hectares of open space to enhance and complement the existing Millennium Green, comprising areas to play, an orchard, a pond, new planting and wildlife habitats.
