Staff members from across the Ted Wragg Trust, a family of 18 schools in Devon, have gone the extra mile to support young people, raising £664 for the South West Opportunities Fund (SWOF) through two major running events.

Staff from schools and the trust shared services team took part in both the Plymouth Half Marathon and the Great West Run in Exeter as part of the trust's ‘Run for a Reason’ campaign, combining personal challenge with a shared commitment to creating opportunities for children and young people.

The funds raised will support students experiencing disadvantage to access life changing opportunities beyond the classroom, including programmes such as Ten Tors and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. These experiences help young people develop confidence, resilience and the skills needed to thrive both in education and later in life.

Arthur Casey, Teacher of Humanities at Matford Brook Academy, who led this fundraising effort said: “It was wonderful to help co-ordinate our Run for a Reason team and fundraising effort and take part in the Great West Run myself. A huge congratulations to everyone who took part in, supported, or donated to our runners. It was wonderful to see the community spirit across our family of schools and local communities. Living in Devon is a real privilege, and I am delighted that the funds raised will help more young people discover some of the region’s remarkable landscapes.”

Moira Marder, CEO of the Ted Wragg Trust, said: "I am incredibly proud of everyone who took part in our Run for a Reason campaign. At the Ted Wragg Trust, we believe that every child should have access to opportunities that broaden horizons and build confidence, regardless of their circumstances. The money raised through this campaign will help ensure more students can take part in experiences that have a lasting impact on their lives.

"Thank you to everyone who supported the campaign. Your commitment and generosity truly reflect the values we share as a trust community."
