1,200 new homes built in Plymouth last year

There were over 1,200 homes completed in Plymouth last year, the second highest number since 1988/1989. In the year ending March 2016, a total of 1,244 homes were completed in the city smashing the City Council’s own Plan for Homes target of 1,000 homes a year.

Plans for Eastern Corridor walking and cycling link

Plans for a walking and cycling route connecting Laira Rail Bridge and the new Saltram Meadow housing estate have been submitted by the Council.

The link will provide pedestrians and cyclists with a traffic-free alternative to this stretch of Laira Bridge Road and Billacombe Road and therefore help to reduce congestion along the A379.

Tunnelling work in the pipeline

Work has started to lay the pipes needed to transfer treated drinking water from South West Water's new £60million Mayflower Water Treatment Works into Plymouth's water distribution system.

The new pipeline will run from the new treatment works, currently under construction at Roborough, just north of Plymouth, to Coombe Lane, near Tamerton Foliot.

Devon backs the Brexit

Voters in Devon have backed the rest of the country in voting to leave the EU.

A majority of 55 to 45 % of those in the county backed the Brexit.

Voters in East Devon, Mid Devon, North Devon, Plymouth, Teignbridge, Torbay, Torridge and West Devon voted to leave.

Polls open in historic referendum

Polling stations across Devon have opened in a historic referendum on whether the UK should remain a member of the European Union or leave.

The referendum ballot paper asks the following question: "Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?"
