The Climbing Hangar will open the doors to its biggest bouldering wall yet in Plymouth on Saturday 24th February.

The dedicated bouldering wall is housed in what was the Hovis bread factory in Honicknowle. Measuring 15,000 square feet, the Climbing Hangar Plymouth will provide world-class facilities to seasoned climbers as well as those new to the sport.

Climbing Hangar Managing Director, Ged MacDomhnaill says:  “Plymouth was an obvious choice for us, the university city is young, exciting and a gateway to some of the best outdoor rock locations in the South West. As with our other walls in Liverpool and London, The Climbing Hangar Plymouth will become a thriving social hub where you can try something new, meet like-minded people and progress in climbing to achieve your personal goals. In addition to world-class bouldering facilities, there will be a regular programme of cross-training classes and a lively events calendar - look out for our legendary UV Night!”

Climbing Hangar ambassador and double World Bouldering Champion Shauna Coxsey says: “I have been climbing at the Hangar since the day it opened and I love it! It genuinely feels like home. There is always a friendly face and I know I can train hard whilst having fun in a relaxed atmosphere. The boulder problems that are reset regularly are brilliant and keep me both mentally and physically challenged.”

For those whose interest in climbing has been peaked by the announcement that the sport will be included in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, the Climbing Hangar Plymouth will provide everyone, whether they are just starting out or have more serious aspirations with the opportunity to experience world cup style boulder problems.
