Featuring works from Camera, clay and brush.d brush

This May, emerging photographer James Wakefield will present his very first public photography exhibition along with Kit Williams (also a first-time exhibitor and Frances Margaret a sculpture and newly exploring painting.
For James this is a deeply personal collection of landscape images shaped by adventure, patience, and a passion for finding simplicity within the world around us.

While stepping into his first exhibition brings both excitement and nerves, James’s work speaks with quiet confidence. His photography is defined by an elegant, simplified style, with his ability to take a busy scene and uncover a calmer, more powerful story hidden within it.

Drawn to dramatic skies, shifting weather, and fleeting moments of light, James has spent 4 years chasing the perfect conditions. From early mornings spent standing in silence with hot tea in hand waiting for sunrise, to picnic dinners shared while watching for the last light of sunset, photography has become woven into family adventures and exploration.

Those journeys have taken him from discovering the hidden beauty of Devon navigating moorland, rivers and climbing mountains across the country in search of atmosphere, mood, and the perfect light.

James is passionate about authenticity in his work. Using his trusted Nikon D7500 camera, he captures scenes exactly as he experiences them, later editing each image with the lightest possible touch. His belief is simple: the viewer should see what he saw—the light, the moment, and the real emotion of being there.

The exhibition will showcase a collection of carefully selected landscape photographs available to view and purchase for the very first time.

This debut exhibition is not only a display of photography, but a reflection of patience, observation, family adventure, and the beauty that can be found when we slow down long enough to truly look.
