Spice and all things nice at Manna From Devon Cooking School's 10th Anniversary Pop Up Supper with Romy Gill

To celebrate ten years of Manna from Devon Cooking School, David and Holly Jones have invited renowned Indian chef, Romy Gill, to co-host a pop up supper on Thursday 17th September. The ticket price of £25 will include a spicy array of delicious dishes served as a three-course menu. This supper, which will take place at Browns Hotel in Dartmouth, will raise funds for the Dartmouth Food Festival.

Commenting on the evening, co-owner of Manna from Devon Cooking School, Holly Jones says: "We're delighted that Romy could take time out of her busy schedule running her restaurant, Romy's Kitchen, to join us for this celebratory event. We have known Romy for many years and have huge respect for her style of cooking and passion for creating healthy, flavoursome dishes. It's going to be a gastronomic delight for all those who attend."

Romy Gill’s tempting menu will start with a platter of spiced crab paté with homemade flat breads, spicy chicken wings, marinated over night in a ginger, garlic, Kashmiri chilli and tandoori blend and spicy potato Burma balls, deep fried in a chickpea batter.

The main course will see guests enjoy a lentil dal served alongside a curry of Achari Gosht (mutton), slow cooked in whole spices, chillies and tomatoes, with Naan, rice and a selection of Romy’s homemade chutneys. For those with a sweet tooth, Romy’s mango cheesecake with a strawberry dip will be the perfect dessert to end the evening.

Renowned for her incredible spice mixtures, Romy Gill fuses traditional Indian cuisine with healthy eating to deliver deliciously versatile dishes, all of which pack a punch with a wealth of vitamins. Where possible Romy sources seasonal vegetables straight from the restaurant’s kitchen garden and has developed and adapted recipes to suit locally available ingredients, incorporating fish popular in Britain such as monkfish and gurnard to create dishes that would not be available in India.
Established in 2005, Manna from Devon Cooking School is run by Holly and David Jones who teach cooking skills to small groups in the relaxed environment of their Victorian home, positioned in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Kingswear, South Devon. The stylishly decorated, homely kitchen and the outdoors’ decking overlook simply stunning views across the Dart estuary to Dartmouth. In addition to the main kitchen, there is a second kitchen that is in the style of a bakery. As always, Manna from Devon only use locally sourced ingredients, cooking recipes and dishes the owners have discovered during travels around Europe and Asia.
