Bank of England should limit house price inflation, says surveyors' body

Research by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) proposes cap on price growth

Bank of England maintains interest rates at 0.5%

The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee has voted to maintain bank interest rates at 0.5% at its meeting on 4 September.

The decision is in line with the monetary policy forward guidance announced last month by Governor, Mark Carney, alongside the publication of the August 2013 Inflation Report.

UK inflation rate falls to 2.8%

The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rate of inflation fell by 0.1% to 2.8% in the year to July 2013, down from a 14-month high of 2.9% in June, according to the Office for National Statistics.
