New clergy for Devon churches

Devon churches now have 15 new clergy after a special ordination service was held at Exeter Cathedral.

The Rt Rev John Ford, Bishop of Plymouth conducted the ceremony which saw 15 men and women being ordained as deacons in the Church of England.

The new clergy come from all walks of life - from the army to teaching - to serve in Devon’s villages and cities. They are listed below.

Andrew Overton to serve in the Sacred Heart Mission Community, with the Revd Keith Haydon  (St Mary Laira, Plymouth St Gabriel, Plymouth St John Sutton on Plym, Plymouth St Simon).

Ben Bradshaw to serve in the Braunton Mission Community, with the Revd Anne Thorne (Braunton with Saunton and Knowle).

Madeline Bray to serve in the Bideford and the 4 Villages Mission Community, with the Revd Claire Rose-Casemore  (Bideford, Landcross, Littleham, Monkleigh, Weare Giffard).

Elizabeth Burke to serve in the Roborough Team Ministry, with Father Simon Rundell  (Bickleigh and Shaugh Prior).

Philip Butcher to serve in the Honiton Team Ministry, with the Revd Sue Roberts  (Honiton with Monkton, Awliscombe and Weston, Buckerell, Combe Raleigh, Gittisham).

Katie Cross to serve in the Two Rivers Mission Community, with the Revd Kim Mathers  (Alverdiscott, Atherington, Beaford, High Bickington, Horwood, Huntshaw, Newton Tracey, Roborough, St Giles in the Wood, Tawstock, Yarnscombe).

Nicholas Debney to serve in the Benefice of Dartmouth and Dittisham,with the Revd Will Hazlewood.

Annita Denny to serve as a Distinctive Deacon in the Raleigh Mission Community, with the Revd Anne Charlton (Budleigh Salterton, East Budleigh with Bicton, Otterton).

Sidney Humphries to serve in the Mission Community of Littleham-cum-Exmouth with Lympstone, with the Revd James Hutchings.

Stephen Hunt to serve in the 4 Villages Mission Community, with the Revd Gwen Smith  (Landcross, Littleham, Monkleigh, Weare Giffard, Bideford).

Stephanie Jeffs to serve in the Benefice of Tiverton St Peter and Chevithorne with Cove, with the Revd Robert Gordon.

Peter March to serve in the Benefice of Heavitree with St Mary Steps, with the Revd Robin Eastoe.

Mark Nightingale to serve in the Benefice of Alphington, Shillingford St George & Ide, with the Revd Stephen Bessent.

Mike North to serve in the Start Bay Mission Community, with the Revd Pam Kemp (Charleton with Buckland-Tout Saints, Chivelstone, East Portlemouth,Slapton, South Pool, Stokenham).

Ann Stuckey to serve in the Benefice of Seaton and Beer, with the Revd Jeremy Trew.
