Bideford Students Celebrate A Level Success and Exciting Next Steps
Bideford College was buzzing today as students came along to collect their A Level results (Thursday 13th August.)
Students and staff at Bideford College are celebrating another extraordinary year of academic achievement following the release of the latest examination results. Students secured a flawless 100% overall pass rate, with 83% of all grades recorded at A* to C. Underlining the high standards across both academic and vocational qualifications, 46% of all grades achieved reached the highest standard of A*, Distinction*, or Distinction.
Individual academic successes were widespread across a range of subjects, with many students securing places at some of the UK's top universities. In the sciences, Rebecca Van Santen achieved a sweep of top grades with an A* in Biology, an A* in Chemistry, and an A* in Mathematics, securing her place to read Biochemistry at Cardiff University.
Joining her in the medical sciences, Freya Tonks earned an A in Biology, an A in Chemistry, and an A in Mathematics to read Dentistry at the University of Birmingham, while Alex Bowden attained a Distinction* in Business alongside an A in Geography and an A in Biology to read Biomedical Science at the University of Warwick.
The humanities and social sciences saw equally impressive outcomes. Theo Cadman earned an A* in Psychology alongside an A in Mathematics and an A in English Literature, going on to read Psychology at the University of Bath. Olivia Maciver also secured her place to read Psychology at the University of Exeter after achieving a Distinction* in Health and Social Care, an A* in Sociology, and an A in Psychology. Furthermore, Erin Bennett earned an A* in Psychology alongside an A in Biology and an A in English Literature, while Lydia Corrick achieved an A* in Psychology, an A* in Sociology, and a B in English, and will take a gap year before entering university.
