First Ever 'Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever' Fundraiser planned for Devon

South Devon’s first Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever will take place at Oddicombe Beach, Torquay, with all proceeds supporting The Seal Project Charity (No. 1187703).

The event will be held on Sunday 2 August 2026 and marks the first time this much-loved Kate Bush celebration has come to South Devon.

Organisers have been working with Torbay Council to secure permission for the event, which will be fully insured and risk assessed to ensure it is safe, fun and inclusive.

Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever events are held around the world and have grown in popularity in the UK, including the well-known Folkestone event, which began in 2018 and has drawn hundreds and later thousands of dancers. South Devon organisers hope to welcome 250 participants.

The event celebrates Kate Bush’s 1978 song Wuthering Heights, inspired by Emily Brontë’s novel, with participants recreating the singer’s famous red-dress look and iconic dance.

Participants will gather at Oddicombe Beach at 2pm, collect a wristband, join a warm-up, learn key moves from the dance leaders and then perform the routine together as a group.

The event is all about fun and community. No dance experience is needed, and participants are encouraged to watch tutorial videos in advance if they would like to feel more confident on the day.
