Pupils at Cranbrook Education Campus marked World Book Day with a colourful celebration of reading, dressing up as their favourite characters and showing off their book-inspired outfits.

The day encouraged students to share their love of stories, explore new books, and celebrate the joy of reading with friends and classmates.

Staff were also involved in the fun, joining in with creative costumes and helping bring the magic of books to life across the campus.

All pupils received their £1 World Book Day token to redeem for special books, giving them an extra opportunity to discover new stories and authors beyond the classroom.

Reading is at the heart of life at Cranbrook Education Campus, which is part of the Ted Wragg Trust. Pupils experience a wide range of stories and texts, from phonics in the early years to class novels and creative writing as they get older, helping them become confident readers, understand what they read, and develop a lifelong love of books.

World Book Day, in partnership with the UK National Year of Reading 2026, celebrates reading for pleasure and encourages children to keep imagining, learning, and enjoying stories every day.

Stephen Farmer, Head of Campus at Cranbrook Education Campus, said:

As always, World Book Day was a fantastic day at Cranbrook. It was brilliant to see pupils and staff dressing up, sharing stories, and enjoying reading together.”

Moira Marder, CEO of the Ted Wragg Trust, said:

“It was a joy to see Cranbrook staff and students alike embrace their favourite stories with such excitement in honour of World Book Day. Moments like this truly show just how powerful reading can be in bringing people together.”
