Trot on down to The Donkey Sanctuary this February
Visitors to The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth will be able to follow donkey hoofprints around the sanctuary this February half term, on the new seasonal family activity - Strawberry’s Hoofprint Trail.
Strawberry is one of the sanctuary’s adoption donkeys and is instantly recognisable thanks to her unique reddish-brown strawberry roan coat. By following her hoofprints, people will learn how sanctuary grooms keep all the resident donkeys’ feet healthy to then be able to answer the questions on their trail sheets and win a prize.
Set in the East Devon countryside, the sanctuary is free to visit and park, and dog friendly too. With more than 200 donkeys of all sizes, including Strawberry, the sanctuary also has a landscaped natural play area, a leafy maze and miles of walkways to explore.
If the weather changes, there are indoor exhibits and the main barn with a visitors’ area, while the award-winning restaurant, The Kitchen, offers the perfect place to take sanctuary in the warm, and the Gift Shop offerings a huge range of donkey inspired souvenirs.
The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth is open every day from 9am until 5pm. Strawberry’s Hoofprint Trail runs from 10 February until 29 March. Trail sheets cost £5 each which includes a prize on completion.
