Plymouth Minibus Operator Launches ‘Miles That Matter’ Campaign to Support Local Charities
A Plymouth-based minibus operator has launched a new community initiative aimed at giving something back to local charities and the people they support.
DAn Travel, a small independent transport provider, has introduced Miles That Matter, a year-long campaign offering free day-trip transport to charities across Plymouth and the surrounding areas.
As part of the initiative, participating charities are each allocated one dedicated month during the year. During that month, they receive a completely free return trip in a 16 or 19 seat minibus (subject to availability), with destinations allowed within a 40-mile radius of Plymouth, measured “as the crow flies”.
The trip can be used however the charity sees fit - whether that’s a wellbeing day for staff, a reward for volunteers, or a special outing for the people they support. In addition to the free transport, DAn Travel also uses the charity’s allocated month to help promote their work through its website and social media channels.
The aim of Miles That Matter is to provide practical support while also shining a spotlight on the often unseen work carried out by charities across the region.
Speaking about the campaign, a spokesperson for DAn Travel said: “We may be a small operator, but we strongly believe that businesses of any size can make a positive difference. This campaign is simply our way of saying thank you to charities who do so much for others, often with very limited resources.”
Unlike many initiatives, Miles That Matter does not involve sponsorships or fundraising requirements. There is no cost to take part - just a focus on shared positivity, community recognition, and giving charities a well-earned break.
Local charities interested in getting involved or finding out more about the campaign are encouraged to get in touch with DAn Travel directly.
