Exmouth Good Afternoon Choir
Exmouth Good Afternoon Choir celebrated Christmas in style with their inaugural concert taking place on 9 December with the children of Withycombe Raleigh C of E Primary School as their special guests attended by the Mayor of Exmouth, Councillor Graham Deasy.
The choir is a fun and friendly, mixed-voice, non-audition, community choir lead by Craig Northway and is back singing after their Christmas break on Tuesday 6 January. They rehearse at Holy Trinity Church, Exmouth at 12.30-2.30pm on Tuesday afternoons and new members are always welcome.
On February 17 a very special musical event will be taking place at Holy Trinity Church, Exmouth featuring singers from across the Good Afternoon Choirs based in Crediton, Exmouth, Sidmouth, Taunton and Torquay.
From 2pm-5pm a fun workshop will take place and this will be led by our talented Good Afternoon Choir Leaders: Craig Northway, Jon Rawles, Maria Thorne, Matt Finch and Rob Tribe.
“It’s going to be a great day of music with new pieces to learn in the afternoon by the hundred plus singers who will attend the workshop. Then in the evening from 7pm (until approximately 9.15pm) there will be a concert at which the special guests are the Exmouth Shanty Men – the original buoy band! The Exmouth Shanty Men are one of the most exciting and entertaining acts to appear on the traditional folk scene in years, and surely the most cheery gaggle of rascals you are ever likely to meet!” says Grenville Jones, Founder of the Good Afternoon Choirs.
Tickets are selling quickly and if you would like to attend the evening concert tickets priced £10 are available in advance from gac.ticketlight.co.uk or by calling 0844 888 9991 and will be available on the door on the night (subject to availability).
There are now 35 Good Afternoon Choirs across the West of England with over 1,500 people “Singing in the Afternoon”. For full details visitwww.goodafternoonchoir.org
