Arlington Court has been transformed into a festive wonderland inspired by the classic tale of The Nutcracker.

Visitors can wander through rooms dressed in shimmering snow, blooming flowers, twinkling lights and sweet delights - all created using dried flowers from the garden and handcrafted decorations.

Outdoors, the magic continues with a mince pie mystery trail around the Old Lake walk (starting 6 December), a playful Twelve Days of Christmas critters display and a quirky bauble display. Enjoy festive treats in the tea-room, browse for gifts in the shop, and make the most of evening openings for a truly atmospheric experience.

Ellie McCarthy, Visitor Experience Officer at Arlington Court said:

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to Christmas at Arlington this year. It’s one of our favourite times of year, and the excitement starts months in advance. A team of brilliant volunteers and staff have been busy handcrafting gingerbread houses, sewing tiny mice, drying flowers from the garden, and preparing hundreds of baubles and lights to make the house truly magical for the festive season.”

Looking to see the house after dark? On Tuesday 2, 9 and 16 December, Arlington Court will stay open until 7pm. See the display in a new light as the festive magic truly comes alive, visit the tea-room, pick up Christmas gifts from the shop, or gather around the fire pit to toast marshmallows.

Visitors can also take advantage of a special ‘Bring a Friend for Free’ offer running from 1-14 December. The offer is open to all National Trust members with a valid membership card, or to visitors paying full entry during these dates. Full details and opening times can be found on the Arlington Court website.

Kate Godden, Visitor Experience Manager for North Devon, said:   “We want as many people as possible to enjoy the magic of Christmas at Arlington this year. Our ‘Bring a Friend for Free’ offer is a wonderful way for members and visitors to share the festive spirit and create special memories together.”

Christmas at Arlington runs Saturday to Tuesday from 22 November to 18 December, then daily from 19 December to 4 January (closed 24-26 December). To find out more about Christmas events and opening times, please visit: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/arlington-court
