Local charities receive significant sum from The Cadbury Foundation
Two local charities have received a combined £5,000 donation from The Cadbury Foundation, nominated by a local employee at Mondelēz International’s Crediton site as part of a £75,000 initiative supporting charities across the UK&I.
The Baby Room Exeter, which aims to serve the community by providing an affordable venue for local parental classes and groups, received a £3,000 donation from The Cadbury Foundation.
Meanwhile, Crediton Baby and Parent Support, a baby and parental social group helping the parenting community in Crediton through socialising children and supporting mothers, received a £2,000 donation.
The Cadbury Foundation, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, recently launched the Purple Heart Awards to recognise Mondelēz International colleagues who go above and beyond in supporting their local communities. As part of this peer-nominated initiative, colleagues from each UK&I site were acknowledged with a donation to a charity of their choice, with a total of £75,000 awarded to charities and projects across the UK&I.
Vicky Rawlins, who works at Mondelēz International’s Ernest Jackson site in Crediton in the Quality team, was selected for her outstanding commitment to the community and awarded the generous grant to The Baby Room Exeter and Crediton Baby and Parent Support, causes close to her heart.
Vicky commented:"Both Crediton BAPS and the Baby Room offer vital peer support to parents in the early days of parenthood and onwards, providing easily accessible help and advice. I have been lucky enough to receive help from both groups and to have volunteered as well to support other parents.
"I feel very privileged to be able to offer this donation to them to help them to continue the work that they do.”
To mark 90 years of The Cadbury Foundation, UK-nominated employees and their chosen charities recently attended a special lunch at the newly refurbished Cadbury archives in Bournville, Birmingham. The lunch was a chance to connect with like-minded individuals and celebrate the meaningful difference the donations will make to local communities.
Jen Harris, Co Founder of The Baby Room, said: “We send our heartfelt thanks to The Cadbury Foundation for this generous donation. With this donation, we can ensure that The Baby Room continues to be an affordable, inclusive venue for both babies and parents across Exeter, building supportive communities for families.”
Created in memory of George and Richard Cadbury in 1935, The Cadbury Foundation embodies the brothers’ belief that community support strengthens society and business, championing health, future skills and causes close to its employees’ hearts for nine decades.
Louise Stigant, Managing Director of Mondelēz International UK and Ireland, and Chair of Trustees, added: “As we mark the milestone 90th anniversary of The Cadbury Foundation this year, we also celebrate 90 years of commitment to giving back to charities and communities.
“We are incredibly proud to invest in the local communities in which we operate, and as we celebrate 90 years of making a difference, we’re inspired to build on this legacy and look forward to creating lasting impact in our local communities and incredible charities such as The Baby Room Exeter and Crediton Baby and Parent Support.”
