Homebuilder Bellway donates £1,000 to help children and young people facing bereavement in Devon
A Devon charity that supports children and young people suffering a bereavement has received a £1,000 donation from a local homebuilder.
Balloons, based in Exeter, was given the money by Bellway, which is building homes in the county in Crediton and Tiverton.
The charity offers a range of help to children and young people when someone significant in their lives has died or is about to die. This includes one-to-one support, group work, activity days, advice, information and resources.
Bellway’s donation will fund one-to-one grief support sessions, paying for resources such as books, games, art materials, journals, and workbooks, as well as covering travel costs to and from the sessions.
Chief Executive of the charity Nicola Clarke said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this incredible donation from Bellway.
“This money will make a significant difference in enabling us to support more bereaved children and young people through one-to-one grief support sessions.”
Bellway South West Senior Sales Manager Rachel Way said: “Children and young people who have faced the death of a loved one or who know that someone important in their life is going to die very soon need significant support.
“The Balloons charity does fantastic work helping these children and young people in a variety of ways and it needs funding to pay for the resources it requires to do this.
“As a local homebuilder we want to help the community in the areas where we build so we were keen to assist a charity that is providing such a lifeline to those who are going through something so very difficult.”
Balloons, which covers Exeter, East and Mid Devon, is celebrating its 20th anniversary next year. It helps children and young people aged from five to 25 and aims to work alongside families and professionals to enhance the support they receive.
