English football has many top actions and talking points throughout the year. The English Premier League is tagged as the most competitive league in Europe, with every team fighting to at least get a spot in the top four places. As a result, we get plenty of highlights during regular seasons, either by individual players or teams.

In that case, we’ll be giving five incredible highlights so far in this season’s Premier League. These highlights cover exciting showdowns, broken records, impressive performances and more. Let’s dive right in!

Welcome Back, Ronaldo!

One of the highlights of the 2021/2022 English Premier League season is Cristiano Ronaldo, the last player from the league to win a Ballon d’Or award, coming back. He didn’t just come back to the league; he returned to Old Trafford, the place of his career burst.

In addition to that, the transfer was another highlight as he was initially slated to go to the other side of Manchester, the noisy blue neighbours and current champions, Man City. Although the return has been a massive highlight, it hasn’t turned out to be very rosy. However, we expect to see him come back stronger.

Brentford Hitting the Ground Running

One of the newcomers this season is Brentford. After many years away from top-flight football, ”The Bees” are back in the Premier League, and they came with a bang. In their first match, they beat London rivals, Arsenal, in a 2-0 showdown, launching them into an exciting run.

They had plenty of impressive performers during this season, with their 3-3 draw against Liverpool. However, they’ve had a rather turbulent season, and they’re currently on a terrible run of form. If they’re to stay in top-flight football, they’d have to turn things around. So, we expect to see a rejuvenated Brentford for the remaining games of this season.

Kane vs Manchester City - Blowing the League Wide Open

Manchester City looked to be running away with the league again. However, their match against Tottenham would prove something special, with Harry Kane running the show. Although Kane is having an off-season, we saw the man turn up against City in a five-goal thriller with two goals scored in additional time.

Tottenham opened the scoring in the first half with City levelling before the first half mark through IIker Gundogan. However, as the second half started, Tottenham took the lead with Kane, taking the game away from City. Then, the Champions got a penalty, which Riyad Mahrez converted.

We all thought that was because the game was already in extra time. However, Kane showed up and made the game 3-2, taking all three points. With that, the race for the title is back on, thanks to England’s number nine.

The Race for Top Four

Every year the race for the top four slots always heat up, especially towards the end of the season. For instance, in the 2020/2021 season, the goal from Alisson against Newcastle gave Liverpool a lifeline that eventually helped them get into third place in the last game of the season.

With six teams currently fighting for the third and fourth places, we expect to see an exciting showdown as the season progresses. Every game from now till the end of the season counts, so any match between Chelsea, Man United, Arsenal, West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers would be thrilling and worthwhile.

The Fight to Stay Up

Another battle that remains one of the main highlights throughout the season is the relegation battle between the bottom teams. This season is shaping up to have a long one with the teams outside the top 10 in the ruff. Any slip up can lead to dropping down to the red zone.

The only way out is to maintain good form as only three teams get dropped. The battle is on as the season gets close to the final week. Undoubtedly, we expect every game to be an end-to-end battle. In addition, we won’t be surprised if there were shockers like the 2019/2020 season when Watford stunned and killed Liverpool’s hope of having an invincible season.
