On Thursday 15th June 2017, an awards ceremony was held at Derriford Centre for Health and Wellbeing for Assistant Practitioners (APs) who have completed their training.

Lyndsey Box, Learning and Development Facilitator, was delighted to host the event to applaud all of the APs for their fantastic achievements and to reflect upon the great contribution that they make within their workplaces.

Following this, Lee Budge, Director of Corporate Business and Bev Allingham, Deputy Director of Nursing, awarded the much deserved certificates to the Assistant Practitioners.

Lyndsey said: “The AP Course is an 18 month course, delivered in partnership with Bridgewater and Taunton College. The APs have completed a QCF L5 Diploma, comprising of 17 units of study as well as developing knowledge and competence to undertake a wider scope of practice befitting their Band 4 role.

“We are very proud of the work undertaken, the achievements made and the way that the APs have taken the knowledge and skills learnt into the workplace, to deliver compassionate, high quality and safe care.

“It is lovely to see the journey that they have made, from the start of the course to completion and to watch them grow in confidence and knowledge, which they have been able to use in their own workplaces to improve patient care and improve service delivery within the organisation.

“We wish the APs all the best for the future.”
