Calling all Plymouth landlords
Find out about the latest legislation, network with essential contacts, and hear about the new Charter for Private Rented Housing at an event for landlords this week.
The Annual Landlords Expo takes place at Plymouth Guildhall on Thursday 23 October 2014 from 12pm to 6pm. The event, which has been organised by Westcountry Landlords Association in partnership with Plymouth City Council, is open to all and will include a range of exhibition stands and talks.
There are free seminars on how to deal with rent arrears, immigration checks, ending tenancies, financing investment in property, and setting up tenancies. Plymouth City Council will also be talking to local landlords about the new Charter for Private Rented Housing.
Councillor Chris Penberthy, Cabinet Member for Cooperatives, Housing and Community Safety, said: “The Landlord Expo will provide an excellent opportunity for local landlords to network and find out the latest developments in private rented housing in Plymouth.
“This is an exciting time for private rented housing in Plymouth. The Plan for Homes aims to deliver 1,000 new homes every year in the city, and there are a range of opportunities for private landlords including student accommodation, business properties and family homes.
“We are also driving up standards in private rented accommodation and the launch of the consultation on our new Charter for Private Rented Housing this week aims to recognise the work of good landlords and encourage others to raise their game.”
Representatives from the Council will include valuation office agency, planning, licensing and building control, and there will also be representatives from across the private housing sector including estate agents, solicitors, security services and letting agents.
