55% jump in turnover in construction sector
Sphere Solutions, the specialist construction industry recruitment agency, has reported a 55% jump in turnover, posting a figure of £17million to April 2014, compared to the previous year’s £11 million.
The company, which operates throughout the South West and Wales from offices in Plymouth, Bristol and Cardiff, is reporting a healthy boost in recruitment levels in line with accelerated growth of the UKs construction output.
James Hughes, director of Sphere Solutions, who co-founded the company in 2005 with fellow director James Parsons, said:
“We have experienced a consistent uplift in the number of temporary and permanent vacancies over the last year which has been driven by growth in most sectors of the construction industry, this is reflected in this significant boost in our turnover.
With new residential and commercial construction projects continuing to gather momentum in the UK, we are experiencing a sustained increase in construction vacancies across all our regions including the West, which is very encouraging.”
Operating in Plymouth from its Mary Seacole Road offices, Sphere Solutions recruits staff for major, regional and independent construction companies, house builders and civil engineering and rail contractors across the UK.
Positions fulfilled by the firm, which employs 30 staff across its three offices, range from building site trades and labourers, to project managers and board level appointments.
James Parsons added: “Construction jobs act as an important barometer to the buoyancy of the economy as a whole. Looking at the sheer numbers of people being recruited through our offices, we are cautiously optimistic and we are predicting our turnover to be comfortably around £21million by our year end 2014/15.”
Sphere Solutions has increased its turnover 350% over the past five years from £5million in 2009, to the present £17million.
