St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth is on the search for amateur sailors to represent the charity in the forthcoming Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit on Saturday 21 June.

Now in its 13th year and regarded as the South West’s premier charity sailing event, fundraisers will tackle the 26 mile sailing marathon from Plymouth Sound to the Hands Deeps buoy, three miles west of the Eddystone and back to win a share of the £16,500 prize money pot for their chosen charity. Prize money will not only be awarded based on final race position, but extra points will be allocated based on amount of sponsorship raised.

The event will be preceded by an evening of entertainment and presentations at the National Marine Aquarium.

Senior Community Fundraiser at St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, Nina Wearne said: “This is a great way for local sailors to take part in a fantastic event, whilst helping the patients of St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth. Since it began in 2002, the event has raised so much for local charities and has been a vital a part of fundraising for us. If you have access to a boat and a keen supporter of St Luke’s, then come and join us for a fun day out”.

You can register for the Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit online at www.eddystonepursuit.org. Entry is £30 with a minimum sponsorship of £100.
