Family taken to hospital following house fire in Honiton

At around 7.48am this morning, Friday 5 April, emergency services were called to a reported house fire at a property in Lee Close, Honiton.

The Air ambulance and the police helicopter also attended the scene, assisting in the evacuation of casualties to hospital.

Five people were taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital following the fire. Four people remain in serious condition in hospital.

A 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old male both suffered serious injuries. A three-year-old boy sustained serious injuries and is expected to be transferred to Frenchay Hospital, Bristol shortly. A man in his 30s is also being treated in hospital for smoke inhalation. A six-year-old boy has been discharged.

The fire was extinguished and police and fire investigators were at the scene.

Police are not treating the fire as suspicious at this time.
